Born in Lancashire, self taught from youth, Roger retired early, as intended, to swap producing BBC wildlife films worldwide for fulltime professional painting in watercolours and oils. Filming and painting share the same disciplines.
He demonstrates and tutors in the UK, and offers 1:1 or 1:2 tuition in oils or watercolours in his well equipped home studio in Lechlade, with all materials provided, lunch included. Recently over 15 years, led walking and painting holidays in Spain, Italy, Morocco and UK, as well as tutoring at Marlborough College Summer School each year.
Over the same period contributed regularly to the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI) annual exhibitions- 2011 Menena Schwabe Award for outstanding oil painting; also the RSMA. Member of Clifton Arts Club, Bristol. Sidoli Prize 2013. Member, Lechlade Art Society
